The upper half of this photograph was me at durbar hall gallery when escape velocity of vimal chandran was happening . To be frank, that was the first time ive been to an art gallery.Being stunned with everything around, this wish struck quick and hard. Someday, i thought.
2 years i worked for it. Planning, running around, talking to people, saving money. My exhibition was cancelled 4 times at 4 different venues at 4 different times. When they call to say it is off, i cried uncontrollably for hours. I cry it out and then i stop. Make myself a little more stronger and starts looking for options. Some hiked the gallery rates, other issues were i am an amateur. Criticized, insulted, mocked all along the way but then who said the paths would be roses and petals.
Aurora started at calicut then. I left home 4 days earlier with a huge bundle of unframed paintings. That day till the inauguration hour, was rush hour. Alone in an unknown city, suddenly there were good hearted people around to help. In 4 days the paintings were framed, brochures and posters were done, my first press meet happened and everything was set.5 days aurora filled the air. Boarding the train back home, i thought am going on a vacation and no more exhibitions soon or never.
The second half of the photograph is me again, 15 days later, at Durbar hall kochi, where i made that someday wish, with a bunch of like minded amazing people helping me set up Aurora again. Mean while the gallery got cancelled thrice. There was prayers and love from all parts of the world and again Aurora happened.
Two different cities, two exhibitions at the gap of 15 days. I was numb with happiness. I still am. The response was overwhelming. And for those asking why?
Because for the first time i started loving myself and thats why.
